Kashmir youth injured in clashes critical

A Kashmir youth was critically injured during clashes with government forces in Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar on Tuesday, sources told Kashmir Dispatch.

Sohail Majeed Khan, 19, was hit by pellets fired by government forces in Nowhatta area of Old City after anti-India clashes broke out in the area, witnesses said.

He was admitted in Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, where he was operated by doctors.

Kashmir govt bans plantation of poplar trees

Concerned over rising rate of infection by poplar pollen, authorities on Monday banned the fresh plantation of Russian poplars in and around Srinagar City.

Sources in the administration said that under section 133 District Magistrate Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Shah banned the plantation of Russian poplar. He asked concerned DFOs of Social Forestry and Urban Forestry to give a report within 15-days.

New traffic decongestion plan for Srinagar unveiled

In order to decongest the Srinagar city and to and to ensure smooth regulation of traffic in and around, the Jammu and Kashmir authorities Friday unveiled a new plan.

Taking serious note of violation of the High Court directions-banning plying of heavy vehicles including tourist buses during day hours- the Traffic Department is going to install nakas to stop plying of heavy vehicles to avoid the traffic mess in the Srinagar city.
