Ruling out any further divisions in Mirwaiz led faction of Hurriyat Conference, Senior separatist leader and Democratic freedom Party convener in PaK APHC chapter Mehmood Sagar said that the difference in the amalgam were not of serious nature and could be sorted out by mutual negotiations.
However, he said that before undertaking the Pakistan visit, Hurriyat (M) should have taken Shabir Ahmad Shah on board. “These are very small problems and can be sorted out”, Sagar told KNS in Islamabad. He added that they never questioned amalgam’s visit to Pakistan but they should have consulted Shah. “Let Mirwaiz go wherever he wishes, but it would have been good to take Shah on board”, said Sagar who represents Shah’s party in PaK APHC chapter.
Sagar stressed for unity among the separatist leadership for taking the ongoing struggle to its logical end.
“We are at a mission and ought to take Geelani, Yasin Malik and others on board to reach our goal”, Stressed Sagar, adding that though the goal of every separatist party or leader is the same but there were difference in approach which needed to be sorted out.
“We have given one lakh sacrifices, let all the leaders recall those sacrifices and young children who laid down their lives and sit together on the table to iron out the differences”, urged Sagar.
Sagar was also critical about people seeking return of normalcy in the state. “Peace and freedom struggle can’t go together. If you want freedom, peace can’t prevail. You have to be ready for the disturbances”, Said Sagar, adding that the situation in Afghanistan was linked with that of Kashmir. He however was quick to add that the negotiations and dialogue process should also continue for seeking a permanent settlement of the dispute.
He said that there was a diffence between the actual foreign policy of Pakistan vis a vis Kashmir and their practical approach. “Govt policy on Kashmir in Pakistan has been very important from day one, and this has kept changing” said Sagar. He however urged people not to loose heart and said, “Without difficulties, you cant expect good days to come”
He said that half way mark has been achieved and now it was up to people to judge what they have lost and how much the gained.
