Fifty-nine fresh visitors from Pakistan Administered Kashmir were among 98 persons who crossed sides along the Line of Control via Uri in north Kashmir Baramulla district on Thursday.
Officials said while 59 visitors from Pak arrived here via the ‘Peace Bus’, three persons from this part of Kashmir return home after stipulated stay on the other side of the divide.
The passengers travelled from Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pak, to Chakoti, near the LoC in Uri town and as a part of procedure, the travellers alighted from the bus and crossed the Aman Setu (Peace Bridge) on foot.
Seven fresh visitors from this part of the Kashmir were on board the bus when it travelled to Pak while 29 residents of Muzaffarabad returned home after stipulated stay here, they added.
As many as 11745 members of the divided families have swapped sides in last four years through Uri-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakote opening points. While 4828 persons from this part of the divide travelled to Pak, 6917 Muzaffarabad residents met their families here.
This year alone, till May last, permits were issued to 271 Kashmiris, out of them 102 traveled across, whereas 517 PaK residents got cleared, out of them only 107 traveled to this part of the Kashmir, officials added.
