As thousands of Kashmir graduates appear for an employment examination on Saturday, Kashmir Dispatch brings out exclusive pictures which show how the autonomous recruitment agency, Service Selection Board, in Jammu and Kashmir has been mismanaging affairs and thereof playing with the career of unemployed youth. These pictures have been taken on different days before today's examination in which at least 10000 youth are appearing. This is how the Service Selection Board handed over admit card for Graduate Level Exams.
These are admit cards lying in the garden of the SSB. They were put in the garden in heaps.
Candidates who went to collect the admit cards were surprised when the authorities asked them to search for their cards in the heaps kept in the garden. "It was abnormal. I covered 60 kms in a shutdown only to find myself searching for admit cards," says a candidate.
These pictures clearly show the mismanagement and the lack of accountability by the recruitment body. "We asked an official and he replied do you want to sit in exams or not," says another candidate.
Earlier on visiting the SSB head office in Zum Zum Complex in Rambagh area of Srinagar, officials sent back the candidates without issuing admit cards asking them to visit on other day. “There is some error in producing your roll number slip. It will be resolved. You need not to worry,” the official was heard convincing the candidate. “It is not with you only. We have several such cases pending with us.”
The entrance test was earlier scheduled to be held on September 14 for various posts advertised by the board, however in back drop of the shutdown called by Hurriyat conference (G), led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the exam was postponed. However, sources said the board was not prepared to conduct the exams, as most of the job aspirants who applied for the advertised posts were without admit cards.
Attempting to cover its mismanagement, the board has added caveat asking job aspirants to bring additional photograph to sit in the exam hall. Candidates who are appearing for SSB exams are being asked to paste photograph on their admit card duly attested by a gazetted officer. Further, it has been made compulsory for candidates to bring one additional photograph along with them for pasting on the attendance sheet at the time of written test, reports said.
