Golden Globes: ‘Yellowstone’ star Kevin Costner says he missed ceremony due to flooding after LA storms

Kevin Costner has announced that he will miss the 2023 Golden Globe Awards due to flooding in Los Angeles County.

“Hey everybody. Look, I’m so sorry to everyone who tuned in to watch the Golden Globes — Chris and I are not going to be there,” Costner said in the video, which he released just before the Golden Globes began airing Tuesday.

“Yesterday we had to pull kids out of school in Santa Barbara,” the actor continued. “This is the second time in five years that the freeway has flooded and we were on the wrong side of town and we couldn’t get back last night.”

“No one is sadder than us that we won’t be at the Golden Globes,” Costner added. “Chris had a beautiful dress and I was looking forward to walking the red carpet with her.”

Costner apologized. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there. I really wanted to, and I know how badly Chris wanted to support me,” Costner shared. “She went out and bought me gold and yellow and black and silver balloons so we were going to sit on the television and watch what was going on.”

“Thank you for your support,” he concluded. “I’m really sorry Golden Globes and international press and I hope we will be invited again. Thanks.”

In the past 48 hours, Southern California has experienced heavy rainfall and severe flooding in some areas. The coastal community of Montecito in Santa Barbara County, Home of celebrities Prince Harry, including Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey, were ordered to leave on Monday.

Costner, who plays family patriarch John Dutton in the Paramount+ series, competed in the category against Jeff Bridges (“The Old Man”), Diego Luna (“Andor”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) and Adam Scott. (“section”).

“Yellowstone” is the only category to receive a nomination, and it’s the show’s first Golden Globe nod in five seasons since beginning its run in 2018.

Costner was nominated for seven Golden Globes during his decades-long career. He won Best Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture in 2013 for his performance and took home the Best Director trophy for his 1991 film “Dances with Wolves.”

From California Coal House with “Yellowstone”.r and Mo Brings Plenty will represent the show as hosts at the 2023 festival. Houser announced in an Instagram post he shared on Monday that he would be taking the stage at the Golden Globes with his cast.

“Excited to represent @yellowstone @paramountnetwork with my brother @mobringsplenty tomorrow night @goldenglobes enjoy!” wrote the 47-year-old actor.

Tuesday marked the return of the star-studded event for the first time since 2021 after a controversy involving the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). At the time, the HFPA came under fire after a Los Angeles Times investigation revealed ethical lapses and a lack of diversity — not a single black journalist on the 87-member board.
