As the days roll into October, we’re all wondering the same thing: When is the new rumored Apple hardware coming out? As may be our answer Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says The first releases could come in “a few days.” In a follow-up tweet on Monday, he said they would arrive Tuesday morning.
At 8:30 a.m. ET, the Apple Store went offline, which is usually a sure sign that new products are coming. Additionally, a somewhat cryptic tweet shared by Tim Cook used the phrase “the possibilities are endless” and featured a colorful Apple logo when the hashtag “tagnote” was used. The tweet is accompanied by a colorful animation of someone repeatedly pinching the screen to zoom through rainbow-colored doodles. It features the song “Go On” by Panda Bear & Sonic Boom, which includes the phrase “Something’s comin’ round the bend, something buried in the lyrics”.
This is of course a reference to the iPad and the Apple Pencil. The 10th generation iPad is rumored to finally include support for the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, featuring a flat design with a matte finish and magnetic charging. The 1st generation Pencil has also changed with the Lightning port.
In his weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman reports that Apple plans to launch its updates first iPad Pro And Entry-level iPad Lines. The iPad Pro will look like the current models unchanged from 2018, but will bring more performance with the M2 chip. The new iPad Pros are rumored to feature wireless and MagSafe charging, but screen sizes and other specifications are expected to remain the same as confirmed, including screen differences between the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models. The 10th generation iPad is said to see the biggest change with a larger 10.5-inch display, flat edges and USB-C. There are conflicting rumors about how dramatic the redesign will be—it could lose the home button altogether—and only Gurman says the new model will be “the most significant update to the lineup in years.” A Twitter user spotted a new case on a 2022 iPad target, which shows that the new tablet will support the 2nd generation Apple Pencil.
Gurman’s follow-up tweet confirmed that “days” does indeed mean days, and that the iPads will arrive at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday. Gurman also says iPadOS 16.1 It doesn’t fall the week of October 24th, so the new iPads won’t ship until next Friday, October 28th.
Apple has a flurry of new Macs ready to launch this month, including updates to the M2. Mac mini And 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. They could arrive next week with macOS Monterey or land in early November.
